Thekkinkadu Maidan Ground in Thrissur
Thekkinkadu Maidan is a famous oval shaped open ground situated in the middle of Thrissur city in Kerala. Thekkinkadu Maidanam is a 65 acre hillock which is under the custody of the Cochin Devaswom Board (CDB). Thekkinkadu Maidan houses the famous Vadakkumnathan Shiva Temple.
The most spectacular cultural festival Thrissur Pooram, which is considered the 'Mother of all Poorams' in Kerala, is conducted here. It was Rama Varma Sakthan Thampuran, the King of Cochin, who constructed this ground after destroying the forest around the Vadakkumnatha Temple. The whole city of Thrissur branches from Thekkinkadu Maidan through nine roads.
